FIAV working to establish Ethno Specific Aged Care

Federation of Indian Association in Victoria (FIAV) is a not for profit community organization which represents culturally and linguistically diverse Indo-Australian community in the state with an endeavor for its growth and continuous welfare.

FIAV has recently joined hands with Australian Unity Retirement Living to establish an ethno-specific aged care and community center in a public-private partnered initiative. This project is being considered for capital funding application to be supported by federal, state and local funding with the estimated cost of 15-20 million Australian dollars and will provide the much needed facility to the second fastest growing Victorian community of Indian origin of around 249,000 in numbers at present.

This project is the first phase of what could be many more facilities that can be built based on demographics of such a population in a particular local council area.

In the following weeks, a special sub-committee shall be in touch with various departments, City Councils & members of federal / state parliament and members of the Indian community to seek assistance with this ambitious project.

Regards

The Committee managing the Population Demographics Project
