Jat Jagat.

Jat Jagat is a social and cultural organization and a recent member of the FIAV. It has no political or religious affiliation. The aims of Jat Jagat are:

1. To provide a forum for meetings and activities for anyone interested in Indian culture and Hindi language.
2. To propagate Indian culture and Hindi language in children of people of Indian origin living in Australia.
3. To provide a link between the Indian community in Australia and the wider Australian community.

Jat Community

The Jats are not a single socio-religious group, as the term is commonly understood today. Jats live in Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi in North India. Though the common definition refers to only the Hindu Jats, a significant number of Jats are Sikhs and Muslims.

The Jats are not a homogeneous ethnic group living in a particular area and speaking a single language. Rather, they are a people who live scattered around the world among several ethnic groups, yet retain their own identity. This distinction is often based on occupation and heritage.
The Jat community in Victoria is a significant participant in the cultural diversity of the population and its members come from a wide range of business, academic and professional careers.

Malayalee Association of Victoria

Malayalees are people from "Gods own country" Kerala. Malayalee culture and traditions are unique.

The Malayalee Association of Victoria (MAV) was formed 30 years ago by a few families that got together and laid the foundation for today's MAV, which has nearly 200 family members. This makes the MAV one of the oldest Indian regional Associations in Victoria. The primary aim of the association is to bring the Malayalee community of Victoria together and to keep the younger generation in touch with their culture and traditions. We also provide youth with an opportunity to display their talents and skills through the different programs we conduct through out the year.

We conduct 3 major programs each year. The most popular program is "Onam" and it attracts close to 1000 participants. The Association administration and events are all conducted with the help of our volunteer members.

MAV is a proud and active member of FIAV.

The MAV is the winner of the inaugural FIAV Association of the Year Award for promoting the culture and heritage of Kerala and the cause of multiculturalism in Victoria.
